3: Transitioning from an Empress Year to an Emperor Year

What’s the tarot card of the year? It’s a card chosen through numerology. This year is the Emperor because 2+0+2+0=4, the number of the Emperor card. Last year was both the Empress and the Hanged Man because 2+0+1+9=12 (Hanged Man) and 1+2=3 (Empress).

In episode 3 of the Witch City Witches podcast, Ana and Bekah discuss how the Empress energy manifested last year and some ways the Emperor might manifest this year. We also briefly discuss bay leaf magic.

You can calculate your own tarot card of the year by adding your day and month of birth the the current year. For instance, Bekah’s birthday is March 18th, so 3+1+8+2+0+2+0=16 and 1+6=7, so her cards of the year are the Tower (16) and the Chariot. Some people use their card of the year for a calendar year, others use it birthday to birthday. It’s up to you how (if) you incorporate this technique into your practice. Tarot has lots of suggestions, but very few rules.
